Synopsis

Trapped within a marriage to an unpredictable and controlling husband, middle-aged, middle class Marian discreetly embarks on a part-time role as a census enumerator in an attempt to regain her independence. Amid the challenges of her inner city route, Marian confronts hostile and dismissive locals who flatly refuse to engage with her. Enters no-nonsense Jewel, an unapologetically straightforward sex worker. As Marian delves into Jewel's circumstances, it becomes evident that she has become the victim of neglect, is estranged from her family and living alone with no safe means of supporting herself.

They strike an unconventional pact: Marian pledges not to involve the authorities with Jewel, on the condition that Jewel aids her in encouraging locals to complete their census forms. Their journey through the streets of Dublin leads them to an extraordinary and profound bond – an unexpected alliance rooted in support, resilience, and friendship.
