The Song Cycle
Synopsis
Musician, Nick Kelly, embarks on an ambitious journey: cycling from his home in Dublin, Ireland, to the Glastonbury Music Festival in, England, where his band is performing. Risking life, limb and dignity in a story about Mother Nature, Father Time and Brothers on the Road. With his guitar, tent, and all his essentials strapped to his bicycle, Nick turns the journey into a unique adventure, performing shows in towns along the way.
Joining him is his close friend and musical collaborator, Sean Millar, who tracks Nick's progress using public transport and meets him at each stop to perform onstage.
The journey culminates on a milestone day—Nick’s 60th birthday—marking not just his arrival at Glastonbury but a poignant triumph over time, as he outlives his late father, Irish Politician John Kelly, who passed away at 59 and was unaware of the existence of Glastonbury. Nick’s journey reflects a celebration of life, music, and endurance.
While inspired by environmental concerns, The Song Cycle is about other forms of sustainability too. It’s a story of resilience, encouraging viewers to stay in the saddle and keep pedalling, whatever the weather, traffic, or gradient faced.
